artXposium

Sunday August 3, 2008

Picture 2

09/19/08 – 09/21/08
On its second edition this year, artXposium is a 3-day multimedia art experience with more than 60 participating artists*. Local, national and international talent will come together from September 19th to the 21st to display a variety of art work ranging from traditional painting, sculpture, and photography to interactive, multimedia, and sound installations.

Besides a great art exhibition in the former home of Grobe’s True Value, located at 103 W. Washington Street in West Chicago, (IL 60185), artXposium events and exhibitions will also take place at the West Chicago City Museum, Gallery 200 and the West Chicago Public Library.

The program, which is in it’s final stages, will offer a grand opening event on Friday, September 19 with performance art, a fashion show, a book launch, dj, food and drink and not to forget a wonderful silent auction. The rest of the weekend will feature a curators tour, an artist salon, artist talks, a Spiderbug film screening, a networking brunch, a book exhibition with a book binding demo, along with creative interactive projects for all ages – and our own publication: artXposium 2.0

artXposium is the brainchild of local resident and internationally shown artist Anni Holm and former Registrar of the West Chicago City Museum, Brian Reis. The ultimate goal of the 2007 edition was to develop an International Artists Residency in the city of West Chicago. Our goal was successfully achieved and artist Gudrun Hasle from Denmark will be participating as the first residency artist at the end of the summer.

Consuming War will include works by Lynda Barry, Wafaa Bilal, Adam Brooks, Burtonwood & Holmes, Fred Holland, Edra Soto, Harold Mendez, Ellen Rothenberg, Dolores Wilber, and Michael Hernandez de Luna.
